Pramadavanam-Tribute To Ravindran-Part-VI
Love is all about nostalgia, memories; sweet and sour....aspirations..courage...and what not. Love is in everything everywhere. The urge to love and to be loved is the basic instinct of every human being. This song brings nostalgia every time I hear it. The first time I heard it was was in the 1980's. It has such a powerful romantic feel to it that I wanted to sing it then. But the huge base voice of Dasettan whch touched the lower "panchamam" like as if from a deep well, prevented me from singing the song in my college days. But I kept the song within me. Those days I had wondered how a human voice could touch such great depths! Ravindran Master had the best of songs for Yesudas. He was the only music director who had the calibre to extract everything out of the vast vocal range of Yesudas. Unfortunately nowadays songs are tuned to suit the mediocrity of of singers and not to the calibre of those who can sing. We have more nursery rhymes than songs! It's possible to develop a wide vocal range with age, experience, practise, control over one's breath and emotions. What was impossible once has become possible. And now I have fulfilled my dream. Something I have kept in my heart all along has come out. Love is silent..The pangs of separation are never easy for one to take. But life has to go on....Still the sweet memories linger on with the hope that we would meet one day. This romantic evergreen song which was immortalised by K.J Yesudas tuned by the musical wizard Ravindran is an apt one which I present for all those who believe in true love and love mankind on occassion of Valentine's day.HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
