ONAM...Oruvattam Koodi..........

It's ONAM once again! Malayalees all over the world celebrate ONAM in the best way that they can wherever they are. Those staying away from their near and dear ones in Kerala do miss the land they were born in and their dear ones. They also miss the many small small things they used to do in their childhood. Childhood memories are cherished by everyone. In those golden yesterday years we had many generations coming together for ONAM and for the children it was time to climb trees, run in the fields, pluck fruits, take a plunge in the river or the pool, and what not! When we look back we see that most of our traditional homes have been replaced by towering flats all over Kerala. Most of the above wonderful things that we enjoyed doing are just memories now and which the coming generation can just dream about or hear stories from us. This song is dear and near to the hearts of thousands of Malayalees all over Kerala and abroad. This song was an anthem of sorts in Colleges when the film was released in the 80's. It still continues to evoke nostalgia.
We would never ever forget such songs. They remain within us for ever.....maybe the wishes we have made would remain just wishes....unfulfilled...but yes....we all can have dreams and wishes. They carry us forward and keep us alive.
