KOTI PRANAM-ART OF LIVING ALBUM WORLD WIDE RELEASE

The D day has finally arrived! My first ART OF LIVING Bhajan Album for which I have composed 7 songs and have sung all the 10 songs will be formally released tomorrow at Trichur and will be available in all AOL Divine shops world wide! The album has 10 songs out of which one song "Darshanam" was penned and composed by the renowned music director and lyricist of Malayalam Films "Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri". Two of the songs were tuned by "Prof. Sreeranjini" a senior AOL teacher. I am indeed fortunate that I got the opportunity to sing for AOL. I believe it's all due to the grace of Poojya Guruji "Sri Sri Ravishanker" that I was able to complete the album in time. The lyrics were compiled by Prof. Sriranjini, my mother Santha Somasundaran and myself.

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to give a copy of the album to S. Janaki the singing legend of India! It was during a program at Trichur where I was able to sing and share the same stage with someone whose voice I have grown up with. Hence my joy knew no bounds!

Oruvenalai-Malayalam Version of "Hai Mera Dil"

This song has been already released for Blogswara V2 as Hai Mera Dil. The song had awesome lyrics by Ajay and wonderful soulful singing by Swati Kanitkar. When I asked Sreeja Balaraj whether she could write Malayalam lyrics for it she came up with beautiful lines in no time. That was on November 5th. But then I was busy and got the time to try it just the day before yesterday. Well the result is here for all to hear! I think she has done a great job. It's not easy to write to a tune. You need good sense of music, rhythm and of course great writing skills and an immense amount of imagination.This is just an experiment and I hope you all would like it. We hope to work together to create more songs in the future.

Pramadavanam-Tribute To Ravindran-Part-VI

Love is all about nostalgia, memories; sweet and sour....aspirations..courage...and what not. Love is in everything everywhere. The urge to love and to be loved is the basic instinct of every human being.This song brings nostalgia every time I hear it. The first time I heard it was was in the 1980's. It has such a powerful romantic feel to it that I wanted to sing it then. But the huge base voice of Dasettan whch touched the lower "panchamam" like as if from a deep well, prevented me from singing the song in my college days. But I kept the song within me. Those days I had wondered how a human voice could touch such great depths! Ravindran Master had the best of songs for Yesudas. He was the only music director who had the calibre to extract everything out of the vast vocal range of Yesudas. Unfortunately nowadays songs are tuned to suit the mediocrity of of singers and not to the calibre of those who can sing. We have more nursery rhymes than songs! It's possible to develop a wide vocal range with age, experience, practise, control over one's breath and emotions. What was impossible once has become possible. And now I have fulfilled my dream. Something I have kept in my heart all along has come out. Love is silent..The pangs of separation are never easy for one to take. But life has to go on....Still the sweet memories linger on with the hope that we would meet one day. This romantic evergreen song which was immortalised by K.J Yesudas tuned by the musical wizard Ravindran is an apt one which I present for all those who believe in true love and love mankind on occassion of Valentine's day.

Kodiyilae-Kadalora Kavithaigal-Bharathiraja Illaiyaraja Magic!

Kadalorakkavithaigal was another smash hit by the master of Romances Bharathiraja. This film had beautiful songs yet again tuned by Illaiyaraja. I am presenting a beautiful duet rendered by P. Jayachandran & S. Janaki from this movie.

Meera Manohar gave me this song a long time back but it was only two days back that I got a chance to learn the song and sing it. I have tried to sing it in my own style.

Pularithoomanju-G.Devarajan & Kavalam-Music of the sublime kind!

Some songs hit you in the heart! The song "Pularithoomanju Thulliyil" from "Utsavappittennu" a Mohanlal starrer directed by Bharat Gopi in the 90's is such a song. Almost all songs of G. Devarajan master were masterpieces and have influenced many music directors like Johnson and Raveendran. He composed almost every genre of music for malayalam films and dramas. He was the final authority on authentic music of the sublime kind. Some never die. They live on with what they did. He lives on with his music. This song will always remain very dear to my heart.
