Maula Mere-Anwar.....Roopkumar Rathod at his best....

When Sreenivasan Jain of NDTV asked A.R Rahman on which were the songs that he liked in the recent times apart from his own he singled out "Maula Mere" from "Anwar". Maybe the song does carry a Rahman touch to it in the rhythm arrangement, melody and overall feel. In fact it could easily be mistaken for an A.R.R number! This beautiful song was created by "Mithoon" a new comer in Bollywood. Anwar has other melodious numbers tuned by "Pankaj Awasthi". But "Maula Mere" sure stirs your soul somewhere! The song has been rendered by "Roop Kumar Rathod" another favourite singer from the A.R.R camp. Roopkumar is better known as the brother of Vinod Kumar Rathod (Playback Singer) and music director Shravan Kumar Rathod (Nadeem-Shravan fame). He has a mellifluous voice deep rooted in classical music which he knows to use effectively. He has been silently here in Bollywood since the 90's but off late has finally got due recognition for his talent and hard work. He is also an accomplished Ghazal Singer, an amazing Tabla player and a music director! His wife "Sonali Rathod" too is an equally good Ghazal Singer.

Awesome song and awesome singing once again. am finding it tough to find new words to express my feelings every time i come here.this is one of my alltime favourites. You are true. Roopkumar is an unpraised silent warrior. He really is one of the best in India! Who can forget 'khamosh raat' (arr)and 'venmathiye'(harris jayraj)?

this I would say is the best of the recent renditions by you. Thought the take off 'aankh' and the last stanza 'rakh lun' start off sounded a wee bit different, but I guess those were your variations - sounded great anyway!!

Pradeep ji,

Great work, once again!!!

I have a question...where would one get the karaoke version of this song, incase one tries to record own version at home?

I did not find the composition great. And I have not heard the original too which I can safely presume would not be very different in quality of rendition since it is you who has rendered.
