Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross....Endless Love......
There would be very few music lovers who would not have heard the song "Hello" or its cover version or at least a Kenny G Sax instrumental version, on the many of the cookery shows on T.V...Many of Lionel Ritchie's songs were super hits and echo almost everywhere in various forms in the media."Endless Love" was originally recorded as a duet between Diana Ross and Lionel Richie, who wrote the song. It was later covered by soul singer Luther Vandross with Mariah Carey, and also by country music singer Kenny Rogers.
In fact other than the above three versions, I have heard rare versions sung by famous personalities like film actors, actresses and of course other singers. This is a song that has been alive in the voices of different singers right from 1981 when it was born.
Ross and Richie recorded the song for the Motown label, and it was used as the theme for the film "Endless Love" starring Brooke Shields. Produced by Richie, it was released as a single from the film's soundtrack in 1981 (see 1981 in music). While the film Endless Love was a failure, the song became the biggest-selling single of the year in the U.S. and landed at number one on Billboard magazine's Pop chart, where it stayed for nine weeks from August 9 to October 10, 1981. It also topped the Billboard R&B chart and the Adult Contemporary chart.
The soulful composition became the biggest-selling single of Ross' career, while it was one of several hits for Richie as the 1980s progressed. Ross recorded a solo version of the song for her first RCA Records album, Why Do Fools Fall in Love?, but the famous version was her last hit on Motown. The song was nominated for an Academy Award for "Best Original Song" for Richie, and was the second song with which Ross was involved that was nominated for an Oscar. It also won a 1982 American Music Award for "Favorite Pop/Rock Single".
This is my version of this very famous song. Well I found a wonderful Karaoke Track for this so just decided to give it a try! I have attempted this song just for a change and did it just for the fun of doing it. Now you may ask me what is the fun? Well really speaking this song is not an easy one to sing as it took me almost 5 hours to record! Now you may wonder why? It was just because it is not a streightforward pallavi, anupallavi charam kind of film song. Even though the song is just 4.12 minutes long it is filled with voices at all places and interludes are almost nil compared to Indian music. The other difficulty was that I had to sing both the male and female parts and the various seconds. This song is also characterised by the fact that it has lot of parts where the singers just go by impulse on the mood. I have not tried to copy the song exactly as it is and have sung it in my own way.
If you have listened to the original you will also notice that Ritchie's voice sounds a little different compared to his other songs like Hello, Dancing on the ceiling, Stuck on You etc....

My love
There's only you in my life
The only thing that's bright
My first love
You're every breath that I take
You're every step I make
And I
I want to share
All my love with you
No one else will do
And your eyes
They tell me how much you care
Oh, yes you will always be
My endless love
Two hearts
Two hearts that beat as one
Our lives had just begun
ForeverI'll hold you close in my arms
I can't resist your charms
And love oh love
I'll be a fool for you
I'm sure
You know I don't mind
Oh You knowI don't mind
Oh You knowI don't mind
'Cause you
You mean the world to me
Oh, I know
I know I found in you
My endless love
OhAnd love
I'll be that fool for you
I'm sure
You know I don't mind
You know I don't mind
And yes
You'll be the only one
'Cause no one can't deny
This love I have inside
And I'll give it all to you
My love
My endless love...

abba! must be a tough one to sing in multiple tracks with the complimenting notes. excellent pradip. i can imagine you sang this closing your eyes and with your open arms and wide :) appadiya?
Beautiful!! Your versatality is venerable...
A love that weathers any storm,And yet that love still stands;Through the very darkest hour,It still reaches out a hand....
I remembered this verse after listening to your song...:)
loved the song for its Lyrics..and you have sung it with right emotions ...Admire you Pradip Sir...
Really amazing! Its a wonder how you suddenly change your style and voice to suit the song. It entirely does have your stamp on it but still feels so different and blends with the song lke a chameleon! Never heard anyone singing such a wide repertoire of songs as you do. You always come up with a hare from your cap. Brilliant!
That WAS brilliant Pradip! :-)
You took me back to the 80s and thanks for that! :-)
Endless love..
The quality of the track and the singer are mutually complementary. I would have never thought that the same person who sang Atnata Sakhi (Malayalam) can sing Jab deep jale (Hindi) so effectively and then turn around and sing Endless love....

This is an all time favorite of mine Pradipettaa and you have done a very good job on this. Your versatility is amazing!
A couple of spelling issues:
original: They tell me how much you care
You sang: They tell me how hard you care
Original: I cant resist your charm
You sang: I cant resist your charms
