A song for the 60th Independence Day!

"Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we will redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance.... We end today a period of ill fortune, and India discovers herself again."
- Jawaharlal Nehru (Speech on Indian Independence Day, 1947)

As we celebrate 60 years of Independence its time to look back and see what all we have achieved and what all we have lost! It's time to go back to the past and understand that our Independence was given to us in a platter by those great people who fought and laid up their lives for us. What are we going to give our next generation?
We may not have achieved whatever we hoped for but we keep on wishing for the best. Unless we work towards a better tomorrow we would never see one. Lets hope at least our children see it.
I sang this song for an album called "Prathyasha" in 1993. I took this out from an audio cassette and so will not match the digital quality of today's songs. It also has used live violin ensembles, sitar and santoor (not samples).
Fr. Paul Poovathingal the composer of this song holds a doctorate in music and is an expert in vocology and also gives classical music concerts. Recently he was in the news when he performed at the Rashtrapathi Rhavan. Fr. Varghese Alengaden is the Director of "Dharmabharathi" Indore which works for Universal Solidarity. This album was released by "Dharmabharathi".

Pradeepji,

This is the 1st time I am listening to your voice. I must say one word .... awesome. :-)

Every word is perfectly touched. By the frankly speaking I found the lyrics cldn't be maintained
properly with the flow after 1st few lines.

But your work is undoubtably amazing! Keep up the good work. Hope to meet you sometime
in future.

Regards,
Subhransu
