En Kaadhale-One of A.R Rahman's early gems

It's been some time since I posted a Tamil song here. From the moment I heard this song in 1994 it's been in my heart and wanted to learn and sing it some day. Yesterday I decided to give it a go and here is the result A.R.R has been here since Roja and he continues to amaze us with his virtuosity creating heavenly music with a standard of the highest order that he has set apart for himself. With a huge team of some of the best musicians in India, he always amazes us with his creations. His songs are basically deep rooted in melody and are mixed to perfection by H. Sridhar and team. He is supposed to be the highest paid music director in India! The whole of India swears by his name today. His was the one who brought about the era of samples, plug-ins, and total shift to computerised recording. He also started the unique style of randomly recording voices and instruments and then using those recordings in the creation of songs. He sets the standards in audio recording today in India. Well I could go on and on writing about one of the most talented musicians of India.
In this song S.P.B is in sublime form and his voice is at its very best. The saxophone interludes by Raju make this song so endearing.

Song: En Kaadhale

Pradip - Singing an SPB song is not an easy job. SPB will casually add his own touches to all the song he sings which is very difficult for other to exactly reproduce. This is one such song. Near perfect reproduction of SPB's expressions and modulations are quite tough but you have attempted it so well. Great voice and expressive rendition.

Once again very beautifully sung, Pradipji...
I feel this is a tough song in terms of modulating the voice, is it true?

Its an amazing melody and an all time favourite of mine,

Very nice, but I felt over-emphasis in certain places could have been avoided- like 'enna' and 'siragugal', the first word of each line in the pallavi (the extra force on them I mean); and vibrato could be reduced...
Flawless pronunciation as usual.
Overall, enjoyed it.

Beautiful rendition ...loved it.

Pradip ...I refrain from commenting and creating any controversies. In this age of digital recording it doesnt matter how well you sing the entire song without a flaw...but it really depends on who you know and who can push you there in that studio.

I pity these contestants who sing their heart out in contests like sa re ga ma pa ...only to be told by the judges that they lack this and that ....c'mon give me a break...the fact of the matter is that even the so called greats will not be able to reproduce their songs live like they recorded in those studios with umpteen takes...

Anyways ...I have always felt that you haven't recived what you deserved inspite of you proving yourself on 'Meri Awaz suno' ... so much for talent hunt..in India.

Good luck ..this reminds me of the Mohd.Rafi song from 'Brahmachari' ...mana aaj ki raat hai lambi ...mana din ta bari ...per jag badla hai badlegi ek din takdir hamari ..

Be positive and believe in yourself. God bless :-)

Sindhuja, I agree to the over stress on some words in the pallavi repetetion in the begenning and have corrected that. But I fel the vibrato adds to the very tone and feel of this particular song and so I am gonna let it stay. Thanks for pointing that out .

Thank u hiran, suresh, murali, saarangi, dona, sunil, suchin, jothi, ankita...Very true Harshan..in this era of digital recording you can always make a clown "feel singing" like a king! Nothing is imposible. Only the ways and means to be in front of the mic are important. And yes you find really talented singers being judged by those who do not even know the abcd of music. Most of the judges are "babies" those who have not even had any contribution to music. And the contestants have to scoop to such low levels in front of these foolish judges and do any circus to please them and plead for votes to the audience. PITY! Its virtual rape of genuine music!

Hi Pradeep, Thank you for your comment and encouragement on my blog. I just visited your's and listened to this latest post. The quality of your voice is really really high. My sister is a successfuly budding singer in tamil movies. lived in Chennai for 1 year and have had some exposure to recording harmony, some dummy tracks and devotional numbers before I came to the US. I have seen so many wannabe singers and no offense to any one of them, sometimes people just can't judge for themselves how good or bad they are. But you, you definitely belong to the group of people who did not have the time and oppurtunity and most importantly luck to pursue a professional singing career. I can say without a doubt that you would have made it in the industry if you had tried. Way to go!!

Hi Pradip, Please disregard my previous comment, I meant that as a compliment but after reading your older posts and getting to know a little about your background, that comment almost seems disrespectful.
I heard Vaa Vennila and Nee Padhi. Nee paadhi was beautiful. Va vennila was also awesome, but the tempo seemed to be slower than the original, not sure if thats just my imagination.
