Mere Sapnonki Rani & Kya Hua Tera Vaada:S.D.B & R.D.B Magic!

If the father was responsible for the advent of "Kishore Kumar" as the most saught after singer in Hindi replacing "Mohammad Rafi" from the slot in 1969 with "Aaradhana", then in 1977, the son was instrumental in bringing back "Mohammad Rafi" from oblivion with the song "Kaya Hua" in "Hum Kissese Kum Nahin"! in fact the song won Rafi Saab the National Award for the best singer and the Film Fare award too! Such was the genius of the father and son duo of "S.D Burman & R.D Burman"!
I present two songs from the above films which were not only super hits but also trendsetters in those days.

dear pradip

both songs are absolutely PRADIPified!!! very much your to own voice, your own improvisations...

ok i actually mean that it has come out wonderful and very original of you.

enjoyed listening to both :D

just a point note: your pronounciations in "Mere sapnonki" is much much better than "Kya hua". thats just my observation.

thanks for the great old hits.

Suchin...thanks...I think Kya hua was not okie as I felt something when I heard it again and agin...Finally I noticed that other than the accent it was the overall feel. Now I have resung it entirely..:-)

Awesome singing Pradipji ! Mere Sapno Ki Rani was too good ...

BTW, I think it was RDB responsible for the advent of KK. SDB was the first choice for Aradhana movie and he recorded 2 rafi songs for the movie but he fell ill during that time and responsibility fell upon RDB to finish. RDB always preferred KK. SDB didn't like this treatment to Rafi but I think on his request Rafi sang "Kya Hua.." for RDB later on.

Cheers,
-Vishal

Pradip, both songs were too good! And what a difference in modulations and treatments you have given for both songs.I personally like rafi saab more so am extremely amazed by Kya Hua.I dont know how the earlier one you sang was, but this version is just mind blowing! I.M.H.O please do not post two songs together. Some people like Rafi more, Some Kishore, and so on, so are forced to like one more from the two. So the finer aspects in your great efforts may go unnoticed. Just an opinion. But for me both are wonders. How do u change your style for two songs? Very few can do that.

nice singing pradip..i like' kya hua' more:-)
both of them were really talented..i think kishore kumar's voice suits for Rajesh khanna more than any other actor..and rafi is an evergreen singer who could sing for any actor..

Pradip, excellent singing of both songs. Improvising modulations were very nice.

I have to agree with Vishal on the the roles of SDB & RDB regarding Rafi sahab and Kishore Da. Regardless, we are thankful to have such gems in the history of Urdu/Hindi music.

Personally I found the Mere Sapnon ki raani competent. but then as usual, you have done justice to both...You should try out some of the rarer ones like 'Nav Kalpana nav roop se' by Rafi for example and stretch yourself...That is a kind of song that will suit your style I think...
