Pramadavanam-Tribute To Ravindran-Part-VI

Love is all about nostalgia, memories; sweet and sour....aspirations..courage...and what not. Love is in everything everywhere. The urge to love and to be loved is the basic instinct of every human being. This song brings nostalgia every time I hear it. The first time I heard it was was in the 1980's. It has such a powerful romantic feel to it that I wanted to sing it then. But the huge base voice of Dasettan whch touched the lower "panchamam" like as if from a deep well, prevented me from singing the song in my college days. But I kept the song within me. Those days I had wondered how a human voice could touch such great depths! Ravindran Master had the best of songs for Yesudas. He was the only music director who had the calibre to extract everything out of the vast vocal range of Yesudas. Unfortunately nowadays songs are tuned to suit the mediocrity of of singers and not to the calibre of those who can sing. We have more nursery rhymes than songs! It's possible to develop a wide vocal range with age, experience, practise, control over one's breath and emotions. What was impossible once has become possible. And now I have fulfilled my dream. Something I have kept in my heart all along has come out. Love is silent..The pangs of separation are never easy for one to take. But life has to go on....Still the sweet memories linger on with the hope that we would meet one day. This romantic evergreen song which was immortalised by K.J Yesudas tuned by the musical wizard Ravindran is an apt one which I present for all those who believe in true love and love mankind on occassion of Valentine's day.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

That was awesome, magical and enthralling. Thanks Pradip for the great singing.

What you said about today's songs being tuned to suit the singer is very true. The good old days, where the music director setting the tunes and searching and finding talented singers who could do justice to the song are gone. And that is reflected in the longevity of today's songs--popular today; forgotten tomorrow.

But the songs of the good old days still remain evergreen our minds and have that magical quality to capture our attention and change our moods and emotions. I thank you for recreating that magic every time you sing those wonderful songs. Continue singing Pradip.

Every time I listen to your songs I am left spell bound by the quality of your singing. Also you have proved another feature of your voice. The ability to glide smoothly through the lower octaves.None of the current day singers in malayalam have this depth and versatality. This and puzhayorazhakulla pennu were my favourites too. Meticulous execution!

Pradipetta... I don know wht to say... very much excited... great song and u've done full justice to the legends. The haunting music of Master and the depth of Dasettan's voice... what a song... and ur voice also very strong... deep... that lower Panchamam in humming... ohhh gr888... Fantastic... Hatsoff !!!

I have a special attachment to this song. I am a great lover of Raveendran Master's songs. He's my Guru, God everything... U Know... Whnever im in home , i use to put Master's songs in shuffled mode, only Master's songs... On that day... the song which I was hearing (unintensionally) was this one... u know...at that time i hapnd to see the flash in TV , i was stunned to know tht the great Man left us in deep sorrow and attained the eternal bliss in Music. I felt tht Master Himself was asking farewell to me..."Vida tharu" :-(... the time was evening... "Saayam Sandhya"... "Etho kaana theeram thedi...etho yathra geetham paadi... piriyuvan..." ... I don know hw to explain that experience... I couldnt hear or sing any songs for next 2 or 3 months... this is not an exaggeration... frnds okke orupadu kashtapettu ennekondu paadikkan... njn nerittu mashe kandittillla... but i could feel his presence on that day... even now when I hear this song... My eyes wil be filled with tears... We wont get such a blessed person...
God is so cruel or Is He so selfish tht He wanted to hear more from Master all alone... without giving us more songs from him... Dont know...

Thanks Pradipetta... Thanks a lotttt for giving such a wonderful Valentines Day Treat... This is specially dedicated to His immortal memory...

...Musically, Yours...

Pradip,
I had just penned a comment after which I heard a few more songs..... man you are amazing!! I just dont understand why are'nt you out there in the playback world as much as or more than the present crop. I mean they are good but you are breathtaking. Your range is simply great... You sound just like Kishoreji in many of ur renditions and like Clapton in Tears in Heaven...

I have three requests (I am sorry for putting in three but couldnt resist!):
1. You're Beautiful by James Blunt
2. Can you somehow do a creative take on Devasabhathalam (His Highness Abdullah) I know it requires multiple singers .. but..:-)
2. Uyire Uyire by Hariharan

Thank you Pradeep.... u make life away from home much more bearable!.. I am a PhD student in the States and music is the only recourse I have in a stressful on-the-deadline life....
