Take Me Home Country Roads-John Denver

John Denver born on December 31, 1943 as Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr., was an American folk singer-songwriter and folk rock musician who was one of the biggest selling artists of the 1970s. In his lifetime, he recorded and released some 300 songs, about half of which he had written, and served as the Poet Laureate of Colorado.
The son of a U.S Air Force officer, John’s artistic journey began after the family moved to Tucson, where at age eleven, he was given his grandmother’s guitar. John eventually took up guitar lessons and joined a boy’s choir, which led him at age 20 to take matters into his own hands and pursue his dream of a career in music. In 1963 he struck out on his own, moving to Los Angeles to be in the heart of the burgeoning music scene. It was during this time that Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was urged by friends to change his name if a recording career was to be in his future. His friends suggested the name John Sommerville, but he ultimately took his stage name from the beautiful Rocky Mountain capital city of Colorado, his home state. Denver's songs were suffused with a deep and abiding kinship with the natural world. Songs such as "Take Me Home, Country Roads", "Leaving on a Jet Plane", "Thank God I'm A Country Boy", and "Rocky Mountain High" are popular all over the world. Often singing and writing folk songs about the western lifestyle, the human condition, and planet Earth, he was named the Poet Laureate of his home state of Colorado in 1977. Denver has been commonly referred to and nicknamed "The Poet For the Planet", "Mother Nature's Son" (based on The Beatles song he covered) and "A Song's Best Friend".
Denver's final album, All Aboard! consisted of old fashioned swing, big band, folk, bluegrass and gospel styles of music woven into a theme of railroad songs. All Aboard! won a posthumous Best Musical Album For Children Grammy, a fitting end to Denver's career.
On October 12, 1997, Denver was killed when the Long-EZ aircraft he was piloting ran out of fuel just off the coast of California at Pacific Grove.
I present "Country Roads" the evergreen Denver Song. This was the first english song that I learnt from my friend "Surendran" who is no more. We won many prizes singing this song in our college days. I dedicate this song to him.

Wow! That was remarkable. This is my alltime favourites too. So sad that he died so young.Did you sing the seconds too? I am in total awe at your versatility.Classical, hindi, malayalam, tamil, japanese, adipoli, western; whatever you sing you put your full effort.Your overall abilities of the highest standards are unbeatable by none of the singers in malayalam. Keep this fire burning in 2007!

Yes, Denver was a great guy - He used to say 'my purpose in performing is to communicate the joy I experience in living'

Country roads is one of his more popular songs, you have done well with the number.

I wonder if you have seen his acting? Oh God! is the movie to watch.
