Remembering Kishore Kumar's Genius!
August 4th was Kishore Kumar's birthday. It's been almost 20 years since the eccentric genius left us. But the songs which he sung are still cherished by millions of his admirers world wide. If he acted like a joker in films and did all kinds of wild antics on stage during his live programs, on the other hand, he had a melancholy and deep philosophical side too, which was very evident in the songs he wrote and composed. Kishore the composer and writer was sometimes an enigma. The intensity of his compositions sometimes leaves us bewildered and confused on judging the true self of one of the greatest playback singers of India. His voice could convey the depth of any type of song like a funny "Ek Chaturnaar", or the erotic "Roop Tera Mastana", the romantic "Khilte Hain Gul Yahan", or the pathos of "Dil Aisa Kisine". His own compositions some of which he penned himself, were simply out of this world in terms of sheer briallinace and beauty of the music, and deep philosophy of the lyrics! Here I present such a song from the film "Jhumroo". This is one of his best songs that I always love to sing.Song No: 69

That was an intense and overwhelming rendition. Loved it!
Pradip, we are on a similar wavelength today. I was also thinking about paying tribute to the legend on his birthday! I am still thinking while your actions followed your thoughts quickly.
Fantastic way to remember Kishore Da. The song you chose contains a sadness that can make a laughing person cry within seconds. You captured the sadness and depth very well. On high pitch, I noticed a slight "roughness" (I dont know how else to explain) which adds to the emotions. Sonu Nigam uses it excessively. Another fine piece of performance!!!
Pradeep,
Very good gift for the occation. Once Ashaji on her live program said, its so unlikely that there will be a singer like Kishore Kumar !!! Thanks for reminding us about that great singer.
