Mousumi-Heavenly Music From Tagore's Land!
Friends, let's welcome one more singer, this time from the land of "Tagore" and "Rabindra Sangeeth". Hear "Mousumi Karmakar", my friend from Kolkatta. She has to be heard to be believed! Her "Amar Raat Pohalo", Tagore's song made me cry for the sheer beauty of soulful singing, music, mood and lyrical value. It's very rare that a song strikes a chord in your inner soul nowadays. This was one such instance. Do not know what is about this song that did it. She is a professional singer from Kolkatta and is very passionate about her music. Her bubbly daughter has made her Blog look like the night sky with the Moon and all the twinkling stars adding to the charm of her already silky voice! Let's welcome her!

Pradip, I really appreciate your uncanny ability to spot the soul stirring songs..Mousumi's song is one like that. Your collection of songs are soooo melodious - each one of them. But to me nothing compares "Porumo"..All the best..

First time I am hearing a song from Tagore, except the national anthem and the malayalam version of Geethaanjali.
Mousmi's song touched me very deeply. Her voice is strikingly similiar to Gaayathri, the malayalam play back singer.
"Where to give this flute when night receds", I was looking the lyrics as she sings ... and I could get the glimps of the escasy Tagore was in when he composed the lyrics....Language has no barrier for music....Thanks for showing us this possibility !!!

അസാമിലായിരുന്നപ്പോള് രവീന്ദ്ര സംഗീതം കേള്ക്കാരുണ്ദായിരുന്നു.പക്ഷെ കൂടുതലും ബംഗാളി റോക്കിലായിരുന്നു എനിക്ക് താല്പര്യം.പാക്കിസ്ഥാനിലേതു പോലെ ബംഗാളിലേയും റോക്ക് സീന് പ്രതിഭകളെ കൊണ്ദു നിറഞതതാണ്.“ഭുമി’, “ചന്ദ്രബിന്ധു” തുടങിയ ബാണ്ഡുകള് ബംഗാളി ഫോക്ക് ട്യൂണുകള് ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ചെയ്ത പല പാട്ടുകളും വ്ലിയ ഹിറ്റുകളായിരുന്നു.
