Bheeghe Hon't Tere & Upacharamu- A Terrific Contrast!
Today I present two contrasting songs. One is a terrific, typical song of the urban music lover and the teenage College goer! The other is a typical Carnatic song which ebellishes our rich cultural heritage. One is a song which boasts of technical advancement in audio recording techniques while the other shows how human voice and tradition is still supreme and is the base for everything! Kunal Ganjawala is a awesome singer of our times who specialises in high pitched songs. Since I loved this song the very first time I heard it, I had this wild idea to sing the song and just try to see how this song was created(singing part). The last part of this song and the continued high pitched voicing was a challenge, and I myself am amazed at myself on how I did it! But I enjoyed singing it and also enjoyed applying technology for the far voiced echoes and the last part in particular! Kunal shot to fame with this song from Murder which became a College anthem of sorts in 2004. He got the Film Fare award and also the R.D Burman award for the best newcomer singer of 2004! No small achievement by any means. The song was composed by Annu Malik. Kunal, Kailash Kher, K.K & Co. are supposed to be the best "soprano voiced" singers in the male category in Bollywood today! Anyway the "Britone voiced" singers (who were a rage in the golden era from the 50's to the 80's) are now considered to be a disgrace to Bollywood and elswhere. Lung power rules everywhere! The other song which I present is Upacharamu a Thyagaraja Krithi in Bhairavi set to Roopaka taal. Enjoy the contrast!Song No:67

Upacharamu!
Great rendition.
I have it on my desktop so I can listen to it everytime.
Superb uncle..... bheeghe hon't tere....wow!!!Never expected you to sing such a song. This was a pleasent surprise as I have always heard only melodies from you. Uncle you have proved your versetality in singing any kind of song through audio blogging which many haven't realised yet.Hope to see more.
Bheeghe hont & upararamu were just terrific in all senses! How do you manage to sing both classical and such type of songs? You have an awesome range too! The last part was just fantastic! I just wonder why you are wasting your time in teaching while yu shold be in bollywood. You are one of the most talented singers I have ever heard. Very few sing classical, fast, slow, western as you sing. None of the singers in Kerala can match you pradeep. you are my best. god bless you.
Pradip, I always thought u were the best....with these 2 renditions...u once again proved the fact!!! :) God Bless u and if u don't make it as a playback singer..it's the industry's loss.
Dear Pradeepettan
Thanks for all ur messages and updates so far.i had listened to ur songs and are simply great, i really admire ur voice. When i heard an onam song from ur music player list i wish i can listen to a favorite song of mine.I have a request for u, could u pls add a song originally sung by Yesudas for an album a few years ago.it begins as "aaro kamazthivachoru otturuli...
Hope u are feeling better now from the sinus probs.hows ur family?
With best regards
Chithra
The most important thing is to enjoy what you are doing. Rehman was a civil engineer before he became a musician and shanker was a software engineer.-Make your passion your profession
Pradip,
U made my day!!! Both the songs were excellent! Bhairavi was terrific!Alaapana was superb:)
Pl do post more classicals in between if possible:-)
Pradip, great contrast indeed. Two totally different mind-sets. You did amazing! The classical number is mind-blowing.
Pradipji
That was something indeed.
I am not sure how many listeners here understand the challenge and risk involved in this.
It is not an easy thing to do terrific challenge to a singer which can go either way.
For light music you need not stress on each note/sangathis or need not give 2 much of vibrato but have to be sung lightly.
Next Bhairavi- one of the heavier gana raagas.
Here it is just the opposite of the other song needs bhavam, sangathis and kalpana all these factors weigh in.
Btw Bhairavi rendition was awesome.
You are truly gifted what else can I say.
Great work..
Bhairavi's always been a challenger to me. Ofcourse not to mention Thodi (-;
Very well done!!
Pradip ettaa.. Wow and Wow again!! :)
Bheege hont is just awesome! The last part left me gaping.you are the best.
terrifice singing and waht a contrast. why don't u sing in bollywood?you are too good.
you have a great voice and have sung in your own style.karaoke track is too good too.
this seems better or as good as the original man. is this the original?
Hard to believe that both were sung by the same person.Astounding!
hi, you have better voice than ganjawala. whay don't u sing in films?
rafi, kishore, mukesh, jesudas,jayachandran,clapton...and now kunal ganjawala! How do you manage to sing all their songs so well/ Terrific blog with exemplary songs.
perfect mixing of voice and track. sounds amazing! what plugins do u use for such original effects?
Also cannt but mention the astounding last part where you have modulated the voice. Bhai lajawab hai!
terrifically versatile is the word !!!!
Great songs! And what a contrast. You are amazing in both. Bheege hont was a revelation
I heard Bheege Hont today...It was simply awesome....Mindblowing stuff
Pradip! what a voice! Great quality of recording. Do you strip off the voice from the original song and record over it? Wonderful singing. I will return here often for the variety and quality here
Great songs! And what a contrast. You are amazing in both. Bheege hont was a revelation
terrifically versatile is the word !!!!
u hv amaaaaaaaaazing control over ur voice..cant get enuf of the classical song..its brilllllliant pradip.. an ace.. defntly better than bheege honth tere..
Pradip - it is just impossible to beleive that it is the same person that sang both the songs. What are you?? You did justice to both. It seemed like you enjoyed singing both equally well!! I'm amazed by how you did not let one style affect the other. Very well done! I listened to bheege hoton a couple of times back to back. probably will do more.
And ya - you can compose well and record well too!!
keep it coming.

Hats off to you Sir. I wish you make it Bollywood soon and enthrall the audiences world wide with brilliant performances like this.
" Yaam petra inbam peruga i vaiyyagame "
Loved both these songs very much..
you made my day..
Cheers,
Barani
Pradip, sorry for being late.
The two songs were a real treat. One was breathtaking with its high pitch and fast pace that you sung wonderfully.
The second was simply amazing. You have a touch of Balamuralikrishna in your music. There just enough timbre and I like the restrained and effortless style.
It was amazing both the songs back to back and if I had not know, I would not great trouble in believing that they were sung by the same person.
Great job. We definitely expect more from you...
Pradip,
When we requested for a classical piece I never expected such a genius gem from you. I could not resist telling you how I liked your rendition !!! Your Bhava based raaga alaapana is an asset and guide point to people who adore Bhairavi. Kudous to you and your Guru. You gave the proper volume according to mood and words. Your rendition was exactly like a mountain base in the region of base 'sa' and it gradually became pointed as a mountain peak in higher sa. You are a natural artist, boss!!! Your waving of rendition of pallavi is just an example of how a singer should be the master of Laya component of the kriti. It is just devine music. With just tambura and not any accompaniments , it flowed to our hearts dear Pradeep Etta... May devine bliss flow to your music and continue to cherish people around the world !!!

Its always a contrast how people like you are out there, when just mockery rules the music world both in film and in concert platforms. Still your life is fulfilled sir, just out of this Bhairavi rendition....Nothing more we can expect !!! We are so full with your music. Thank you for singing for us.
How amazing this is..!!!!!!!
It’s really great to present two poles of music in a single attempt. As Vidyu said, its a big loss of film industry failing effectively use your talents..!!
I heard Kunjanz song a long time before and was amazed with his high pitch and its right here with the same effects..Wowo..! I don’t think that we have multiple talents in India that can handle this much variety...!!
Wiki adminz,

Excellent music!

That was a unique couple of songs. Both refreshing in their own different ways. And quite an effort and display of versatility!
Great work pradeep. I was just wondering how do you get time to do all these stuff?
Proves your unbridled versatility. Liked the bhairavi more than the bheege - probably since it brings out your creativity. Great singing !
Upacharamu ... too good Pradip jii .. Waiting for more classicals from you .. :0)..
Very nice Pradip..specially loved the second one..keep them coming..u have amazing versatility :)
Hemanth,Divya,

Thank you all for taking your valuable time for chhipping with your encouragement. This make me work overtime to post as many songs as possible.
I will be postings rare telugu songs(light music) too, along with such classical songs in future.....
Pradip,
Just hear your song. I have been trying to learn the "Bheege Hot tere.." and cannot seem to reach that note comfortably..Until..I used a software called "MP3 Key Shifter", so I sang in one low note
and then upped the key a bit using the software for recording.
My question is how can you tell if such a trick was not done for the original song during recording. I have heard Kunal in live performance and his notes were never that high...without sounding that comfortable.
Are you aware of the prevalence of such techniques in todays Bollywood recording?
Rahul
Koikahi, yes. I have heard Kunal sing, but believe me he does have this high range to do it in a studio. Sometimes on a bad day he may not have been able to reach the highs as easily on stage. But again you are right. In Bollywood or anywhere you can use any effect, any software to get the feel you desire. And most of the singers including Kunal sometimes sing even with a plus track in almost 90% of the award function.(Just move lips and dance) Unfortunately nobody bothers. Everyone nowadays wants to see not hear their stars singing! So this is very common. I have not used any trick here. I do have that range to help me. But even my voice can fail sometimes on stage!
In a studio your confidence and comfort level is at the peak, since even if you go wrong you can sing again and again. So you can blast your voice out in studio since there is no problem of feedback. On stage if the feedback fails you will be in a sorry state and even the best of singers will seem ordinary!
...that was a lovely song Pradip ;) soo good to hear!
keep singin'!
cheers,
-kathy-
Hi Pradip:
Your classical touch is awesome. Being a singer myself, I have great respect for this.
Bheege Hont was a 7.9 but this is a 10.
