Pramadavanam-Tribute To Ravindran-Part-III

If K.J Yesudas is the Gaanagandharvan of Malayalam film music, then P Jayachandran is considered as the Bhaavagayakan of Malayalam Film music. P Jayachandran's forte is laying the song with intricately woven subtle sangathis...and terrific expression or bhava! The fact that his voice is still young as it was in the 60's is evident from this song. I still remember the day when I last met Ravindran Master in his Ernakulam Flat, two years back on the day of voting, for office bearers of M.A.C.T.A(Malayalam Cine Technicians Association). He showed me a VCD of his sons who were in Chennai that time. The background of the VCD was this song. He told me, "Pradip, they sent me this VCD asking me to see it whenever I missed them, and I miss them very much now. They don't like to be here in Kerala, so I have see them like this".
I could see the tears in his eyes as he spoke those words. I could sense something terribly wrong, but could not tell what it was...... After one month I heard that he was no more!
The song below was the best song composed by Ravindran for Jayachandran. Lyrics are by Vayalar Sharatchandra Varma, who is showing that he too has imbibed some of the skills of his father, the legendary Vayalar Ramavarma!

Pradip:
superb rendition ! a rendition that is far smoother than the strained version of Jayachandran. I really feel that you should have rendered the original version had you got a chance ! Improv at the end is really neat !
And by the way the Karaoke sounds superb in places where the voice is not present. And in places where voice is present it sounds downright ordinary.
Pradip:
Your tributes to MD Raveendran are just fantastic. Also..the anecdotes. Looks like a lot of people outside Kerala are checking out your blog and listening to the music (like Sandeep Chowta)...especially the malayalam
songs.Hope it spreads like wildfire. Our MD's have received very little recognition outside Kerala.I hope at least now...posthumously (with most current music in a state of decay)..the music of MS Baburaj...Devarajan and Raveendran will spread outside Kerala.
Keep up the great work. I hope to be there around Aug 21st and will
visit you somehow.
Will email you soon.
Remember to place on your top list "Aakasha Neelima" as a tribute to
Raveendran...............
Regards,
Pradeep S. Kumar
Hi,
One does not know which should have been the original!
Keep them coming!

Very pleasant to hear you sing. The background music is very nice. First time I wished I knew Malayalam.
When I read the anecdote I remembered my boss saying one time that our real social circle is the people we have around us when we die.

Very Sad story on Sri Jayachandran.
I didn't know about his family, though I know his house in Chennai ( Anna Nagar).
He is a great singer.. One of his earlier songs in Tamil 'Manjoolaik kiLi dhaanoh' is still in my ears.
Now, this song of yours, is so nice! The sound quality, your singng, and the song , the melody is just superb! Loved it.
One of the repeats in my car these days is a song from the album 'Swantham' that JO sent me. One of the songs in the album 'POONKUYILE' by Jayachandran, speaks volumes of his musical skills. His voice is so young and so versatile.!!
Great song Pradip.!! Thank you
>Murali: have put a seperate player for individual posts as you suggested.
had a tough time with the karaoke as it was distorting voice. This is a tradeoff.
>Madhavanji: Thanks
>Pradeep: See u in Kerala soon.
>Vijaya: Yes absolutely true!
>N.V ji: oops...the incident that I wrote is about Ravindran Master, not Jayachandran!
Oops Sorry Pradip Ji...sorry..I misread your post!..!! I always wondered how Sri.Raveendran passed away.!! Was it depression.!
Pradip:
The single player has dfinitely increased the convenience. I saw, the post, read it and played the song right away. Apart from the single song player, keep adding to the multi-song player too for people who may like the songs playing all at once.
I really enjoyed these songs.
Fantastically presented...!
personally for me this is one of your best renditions in the malayalam song.
The karoke quality was also nice.
Wondeful Rendition. Awesome !!
