Eric Clapton-Tears In Heaven

Eric Clapton is one of the Living Legends of rock & blues in our era. He not only is one of the best known Guitar players of the world but also an equally good singer and writer. This song is one of my favorites which holds a special place in my heart! There are many songs which live in a singer....till the end. This is one of them for me. Sang it for the first time in a competetion on a ship which featured singers from all around the world; Finland, U.K, Japan, Srilanka, Kenya, UAE, Greece, ......almost youth from 13 countries were there as participants and listners. I won the first place singing this song! The most exciting part was that the competition was held while the ship was in the midst of the Indian Ocean! Eric Clapton caught the "unplugged" trend just at the right time, when the public was hungry to hear how well rock stars and their material can hold up when stripped of elaborate production values. Clapton himself seemed baffled by the phenomenon, especially when picking up the armload of Grammys Unplugged earned him, including Record and Song of the Year for "Tears in Heaven," the heart-rending elegy to his young son, Conor. Clapton wrote this song in the memory of his young son who died in an accident. I dedicate this song to a friend of mine who left this world many years ago. He was the one who initiated me into singing western music. Country Roads was the first song that I learnt from him. We had done many stage programs while in College.

Song: Tears In Heaven

Original Song by: Eric Clapton

Single Song Player:

Lyrics:

Would you know my name If I saw you in heaven. Will it be the same If I saw you in heaven

I must be strong, and carry on Cause I know I don't belong Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand If I saw you in heaven.

Would you help me stand If I saw you in heaven.

I'll find my way, through night and day Cause I know I just can't stay Here in heaven

Time can bring you down Time can bend your knee

Time can break your heart Have you begging please Begging please

Beyond the door There's peace I'm sure. And I know there'll be no more... Tears in heaven

Would you know my name If I saw you in heaven Will it be the same If I saw you in heaven

I must be strong, and carry on Cause I know I don't belong Here in heaven

Fantastic!
You have come close to Eric Clapton's voice in this song! One can feel the pain of losing one's loved one- the death of his son when he fell off an apartment block under mysterious circumstances- in this song.
My own favorites include "I shot the sheriff, but didn't shoot his deputy" apart from Country Roads.

Looking forward to more.

I'm a great Fan of your right from "Meri Awaz Suno Days"

The rendering of Tears in Heaven was awsome... you sounded just like Eric Clapton there...

I try my hand at singing too (though not too good). Please provide your comments :)

No Words Pradipji. Absolutely amazing! You have captured the mood of the song so accurately…going through the pain Eric has made himself believe that his son is in the right place, that’s the only solace; As much as he misses his son he cannot be with him, pleading and crying has not helped; It’s tough but have to live the life that god has given. There is no other choice. The song touches one even more since it’s Eric’s true story of losing his son.
Swati.

Pradip, that was pretty good, on a couple of spots you were a bit shaky, but nevertheless a good rendition.
Now let me suggest something - try Paul Anka's PAPA...it can be done pretty well by you, if u ask me.

All the suggestions that you made in your e-mail were kept in mind and I hope I could do justice this time. This is my best shot at this song! Could you send me Paul Anka's PAPA??

Dear Pradip
Just heard Your Tears in Heaven & Bheege hont pe. It was jus fabulous. Ur bhairavi alapanam was so precise i thought.

i guess u must be one of those very few singers aound who is so versatile.
Whenever i hear the word versatility ,iam first reminded of shankar mahadevan. may be eqally as good.
can u try the acapella song on Rhydhun.
